Microdermabrasion is essentially a skin-freshening technique, used to brighten sun-damaged or dull skin and to restore its youthful glow. It also helps prepare the skin to more readily absorb the active ingredients in our skin care range. It is a gentle and safe method of exfoliating and polishing the skin, as well as boosting its lymphatic drainage.
It assists in the treatment of acne-affected areas and follicle congestion, as well as improving the appearance of scarring, sunspots, fine lines and superficial hyperpigmentation.
In our sunny climate, the skin sometimes works overtime to defend itself against UV and environmental damage. The epidermis (outer layer) develops a layer of dead cells on the skin’s surface which can cause the skin to thicken, pores to become enlarged and congested – resulting in blackheads and breakouts – and generally contribute to a dehydrated, lacklustre complexion.
Our experienced dermal therapist uses a “microdermabrader” handpiece to force fine diamond particles over the skin, breaking the physical bonds between dead cells and the skin’s surface. Conducted by an expert, microdermabrasion does not thin or damage the skin, but instead refines the keratin layers and stimulates skin to function more efficiently – and remarkable results are achieved relatively quickly compared to some other procedures.
Peels are a highly successful way to resurface and exfoliate the skin to improve the visible appearance of sun damaged skin, fine lines, enlarged pores and a coarse complexion. Our dermal therapist will discuss different types of facial peels with you if it may be an appropriate option to treat you area of concern.
